Happy Easter 🐣 πŸ‡

Cadbury eggs (the best!), jelly beans, Easter church service, backyard egg hunts, big Easter dinner, dressing all fancy, the pretty Easter colors. It’s like the initiation into spring.

When we were kids, we always woke up Easter morning to our baskets filled, jelly beans sprinkled throughout the house, and a handwritten letter from Ralph, the Easter bunny. Aka, my dad.

My favorite Easter memory is from when we lived in Canada. Our Sunday school was doing an Easter program and we were practicing our songs on the way to church. We were riding in my dads big truck, singing “down the heavenly angel came”, the whole way. I loved that song so much and it’s still my favorite Easter song. Every time I hear it, it takes me back to that ride in the truck. ❀️

I’ve made little traditions for my kids that I’ve actually kept up with over the years. I always get them a little plush bunny in their basket of candy. I don’t think I planned it being a tradition, but after doing it two years in a row, they started looking forward to their new bunny so I couldn’t disappoint.

πŸ˜‚ as I’m writing this, I just realized I should have bought the girls actual real life bunnies, Perry and Tuxedo, a treat from the Easter bunny! πŸ™ˆ darn it. The girls would have loved that!

Have any of you noticed how stores are advertising Easter like Christmas? Actual legit gifts like skateboards, cameras, game consoles. What in the world.. I’m sticking with the Easter bunny being all about the candy and plush bunnies. And my new tradition of a note from Ralph. Carrying it on for my dad. I miss him so much. He had my kids convinced the bunnies name is Ralph too and they’ve never forgotten that!

The kids were waking me up at six am asking if they could go find their baskets! I kept begging for a few more minutes of sleep. πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚ I finally got up with them a little before seven and let them at it. They were so excited! We had breakfast and then got ready for church. After church, we went to my brothers house and had an Easter meal there. So good! Plus we got to meet his new cow and her calf. It was such a perfect day.

I hope you all had a blessed Easter Sunday and took time to celebrate the true meaning of this very special day. We have much to be thankful for.
