Summer mornings

She woke to the birds singing through

the open window

joy

pulling back the warm blanket

she made her way into the kitchen

barefeet

in an oversized vacation tee

happy memories

sunlight cast golden beams

rainbows

across the wooden floor

the children peacefully sleeping

grateful for that

she started making espresso

the scent of coffee filled the air

a heavenly aroma

closing her eyes, she inhaled

exhaled

and smiled

forget yesterday

the fears

the doubts

it’s a new dawn

she stepped outside

into the

caressing sunshine

and took in

the beauty

no matter what was to come

today

this moment

filled her heart with hope

for this summer morning

was her song.

Carry on.
