New Years Eve Parties: Take ‘em or leave ‘em?

I can’t remember the last time I had or attended a New Year’s Eve party. Back as a kid and teen, my parents always set up a little party. We’d order pizza, have treats and desserts. But since living in North Dakota, New Year’s Eve is just another day/night. Basically the only thing for me to know it’s new years, is the fireworks from our neighbors and the fact that stores are closed, much to my annoyance.

I’ve always been one for enjoying every holiday and event. I love the happy feels that come with a celebration. And I feel like if I lived in Minnesota by my family and bestie (I hate that word, but best friend sounds childish now 😂) I’d enjoy new years a lot more. I was planning to be in Minnesota for new years, but the funeral we are attending is New Year’s Eve. So another quiet New Year’s Eve it will be. Back in Minnesota, my sisters are throwing a party. My bestie (ugh) and I were planning to have a party with our kids. It’s a bit disappointing.

Maybe I should just try have something fun this year at home. Maybe we will order out dinner and maybe put up some gaudy decorations and maybe have some party hats or something. That’s a big maybe! Ordering dinner I def will be down for.

In all reality, I’ll probably be sitting in my living room reading a book with a snack and drink. Or trying to get my teething baby back to sleep, while everyone else is in their rooms. Please tell me I’m not the only one who has new years this way. Haha.

Enjoy this photo from New Years Eve past. Apparently the only one I’ve taken on New Year’s Eve in the last seven years. From my back porch at midnight, 2021. 🤣

Okay, I gotta do something this year. That’s just a bit sad. I’ll share some photos if I get some motivation to decorate.

  1. Make it a happy memory for the kids Bethany!! They need it!

    1. My children would need a cannon full of confetti going off at midnight and air horns to make an impression on them! 🤣
