Keystone, SD Photo Journal

Always Caribou in Watford to start the South Dakota journey! Plus a good book.
The beauty of Theodore Roosevelt never fails to catch my eye.
A stop at crumbl in Rapid City, plus Target and Dollar Tree before heading up to Keystone.
The aftermath unloading everything into the cabin 😂
Loved the coziness of this cabin! I am a little mollified I never took a photo of the outside or many inside! I just had a video on snap.
The tunnel going into Keystone.
We’ve seen Mount Rushmore many times during the day, this was a first for at night! A fun experience.
The town of Keystone.
I love how towns look at this time of evening.
We stayed at Powder House Lodge in a cabin and dined at the restaurant for breakfast, which was delicious!

Headed to Custer State Park
Miners Cup in Custer has the most amazing coffee!
Inside Custer State Park
Not too many fall colors, but still pretty! I had assumed we were going at peak color season, but it had been a pretty warm September!
Best highlight of Custer is seeing the donkeys!
We saw them on our last trip there too, but this time we didn’t have to hike through the field!
This little baby was adorable.
Went on a little hike up to a scenic overlook!
The Mammoth Museum in Hot Springs. Highly highly recommend! This place was so cool. It’s an active research facility! They built the building around their dig site. They even had researchers working in there!
After all the adventuring, we got pizza for dinner from Boss Pizza in Keystone and settled in for an evening of gameplay!
Our second morning brought us to the Presidential Wax Museum before heading out!
The youngest was a bit nervous of all these, but the rest of us enjoyed seeing all the wax figures.
A stop for coffee in Rapid City!
A fab pastry and coffee and sunshine.
The South Dakota Air and Space Museum. Oh my gosh the boys loved it! I went out for a bit, but it was too cold and windy for Freya. We are going to go back next summer when it’s nice and hopefully the indoor museum part will be open as well!
One of my boys wants to be a pilot and he just couldn’t believe his luck seeing all these planes. It was so cute.
